Inverter technology allows your system to use only as much as it needs. The advanced thermal collection panel introduces free solar energy into the cooling and heating process. The panel absorbs heat energy from the sun, reducing the amount of work normally required of the compressor – the most energy demanding process in the system. In cooling mode, ThermX raises the refrigerant temperature, typically provided by the compressor, and assists the refrigerant conversion from gas to liquid (the condensing cycle). In heat-pump mode, it’s quite simple.

ThermX inputs heat from the sun directly into the refrigerant that’s used to heat your home – reducing the compressor workload-and therefore minimizing or eliminating your demand for alternative fuels such as gas, oil, and electric heat. ThermX performs all year round. Shown above is a side-by-side test comparison of two inverter units, under exactly the same loads, with and without ThermX.


The Emperor Series heat pump instinctively adjusts the output capacity, allowing indoor temperature to remain at the desired setting without fluctuation. When in heating mode, the ThermX, wall mounted Solar Diverter controller (SDV) provides automatic panel by-pass, preventing refrigerant heat loss throughout periods of inadequate solar gain. Evaporating temperature control manages humidity in the indoor air, providing greater comfort and improving air quality.

The ThermX solar panel can be mounted onto a variety of roof surfaces, such as asphalt shingle, tile or metal. Ground mounting and pole mounting systems are also possible. As long as there is direct sunlight exposure available, ThermX is compatible with most single and two storey home designs.

Size Does Matter

Unlike many versions of higher-efficiency system available, the cabinet sizes are more accommodating to smaller spaces, like closets and attics. The Emperor air handler may very well fit, where other brands may not. See system specifications for further details. Just one, 6 by 6 ft. ThermX solar panel makes all the difference! Only taking up as much space as 2 photovoltaic panels, the energy saved can equal up to 20 panels or more!


Extremely Quiet

The Emperor Series heat pump uses Silent Technology to deliver sound levels as low as 56dB, up to 50% less noise than other standard home comfort systems. Advanced blade design provides vortex suppression to reduce the sound of airflow exiting the unit, maintaining low noise levels even in high speed operation. Insulated compressor compartments minimize operating noise with innovative, industry leading materials and sound isolating  compressor mounts. The ThermX solar component keeps your system running at lower speeds longer, when compared to a traditional DC inverter system, making an already quiet system… stay quiet longer.


What is VRF ( Variable Refrigerant Flow) ?

A very sophisticated  air conditioning system, based on several principles:

Refrigerant only – where refrigerant is the only coolant material in the system.
Inverter compressors that allow lowering power consumption with partial cooling/heating loads ideal for use with Thermx collector panels.
Several indoor units on the same refrigerant loop / circuit. Can be easily expanded which is applicable for larger projects, that can grow in stages.

Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) is an air condition system configuration where there is an outdoor condensing unit and multiple indoor units. The term variable refrigerant flow refers to the ability of the system to control the amount of refrigerant flowing to the multiple evaporators (indoor units), enabling the use of many evaporators of  differing capacities and configurations connected to a single condensing unit. The arrangement provides an individualized comfort control, and simultaneous heating and cooling in different zones.
Currently used widely in larger buildings especially in Japan and Europe, Solarcool Mauritius Ltd are now able to offer smaller versions of this system (Mini VRF)  in Mauritius, coupled with our Thermx panel collector technology making our VRF’s the most efficient in the world. The VRF technology/system was developed and designed by Daikin, Japan who named and protected the term variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system so other manufacturers use the term VRF “variable refrigerant flow”. In both are the same. With a higher efficiency and increased control, the VRF system can help achieve a sustainable design.
